Syeda Manzila Hossain an alumna of Independent University, Bangladesh in Environmental Science and Management has made history as the first IUBian to secure and successfully complete a remote internship at Saint Louis University, Missouri, USA. Her achievement highlights the growing global presence of IUB alumni and showcases the potential of Bangladeshi students in international professional platforms.

During her one-month remote internship in Project Management, Syeda served as a Project Lead, managing weekly deliverables and collaborating with a diverse international team. She excelled in her role, earning a remarkable score of 84 out of 100, and concluded the program by presenting her team’s project to SLU management.

In recognition of her outstanding performance, Saint Louis University awarded Syeda a scholarship of USD 500, redeemable towards higher studies at the university. Selected from a competitive global applicant pool, this opportunity marked her first international professional experience, setting a milestone for future IUB interns.

Syeda credits her success to her parents, the mentorship at IUB, and the guidance of her supervisor, Abdul Khaleque, who enabled her to present her global internship journey at the university. She also expressed gratitude to Anwarul Hoque Ansari for sharing the application opportunity and Nishat Anjum for creating a video documenting her internship experience.
