The Department of Information Studies at East West University (EWU) successfully organized a seminar titled “From Research to Practice: Information Behavior Lessons from Bangladesh, Canada, and the U.S.” on 2 August 2026 at the Shelley A. Mubdi Lecture Gallery (550) on the EWU campus.

Seminar featured an engaging keynote address by Dr. Nafiz Zaman Shuva, Assistant Professor at the School of Information Studies, Queens College, City University of New York (CUNY), USA. In his keynote, Dr. Shuva discussed a range of contemporary issues in Information Studies, with particular emphasis on information-seeking behavior in the age of artificial intelligence, media and information literacy, digital transformation, emerging research trends, and research methodologies in the field.

He also highlighted areas of growing relevance to students and faculty members, emphasizing the importance of connecting academic research with practical applications in an increasingly digital and AI-driven information environment.

Event was graced by Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of East West University, as the Chief Guest; and Professor Dr. Dilara Begum, Chairperson of the Department of Information Studies, as the Program Chair.

The seminar brought together EWU faculty members, students, alumni, librarians, and professionals working in information science. It provided a valuable platform for exchanging ideas, exploring contemporary developments in the discipline, and reflecting on how research in Information Studies can address practical challenges across different national and institutional contexts.

The discussions and knowledge-sharing session contributed to strengthening academic and professional engagement in Information Studies while inspiring participants to explore emerging research opportunities and applications in the field.
