East West University Convocation 2026

25th convocation of East West University (EWU) was held on 02 February 2026 at the Aftabnagar Playground in Dhaka. Representing the chancellor Mobasser Monem chairman of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) conferred degrees upon the graduates.

A total of 1,857 EWU undergraduate and graduate students received their degrees, while nine outstanding graduates achieving a perfect CGPA of 4.0 out of 4.0 were honored with gold medals for academic excellence.

In his address Dr. Monem emphasized that knowledge and skills gain true value when grounded in moral principles. He encouraged graduates to take pride in their country, contribute to peaceful global coexistence, and protect the environment, highlighting humanity’s dependence on nature and the moral duty to safeguard it.

Convocation speaker Tapan Chowdhury managing director of Square Pharmaceuticals PLC, urged graduates to become ethical professionals and innovative problem solvers. He noted that true success lies not in titles or material rewards but in meaningful contributions to society, emphasizing perseverance and resilience.

Mohammed Farashuddin chairperson of the EWU board of trust and former governor of Bangladesh Bank reaffirmed the university’s commitment to merit and transparency. He expressed confidence that EWU graduates would help build an inclusive and discrimination-free society through their skills and ethical values.

Shams Rahman vice chancellor of EWU advised graduates to move beyond their comfort zones and continuously strive for excellence in an increasingly competitive global landscape. He called upon them to become responsible citizens guided by morality and humanity.

Convocation was marshaled by Rejina Afrin associate professor of Pharmacy. The ceremony was attended by members of the board of trust, university leadership, faculty, staff, graduates and their families; marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of the graduating class.
