North South University welcomed new students at its Spring Orientation 2026, awarding scholarships and highlighting education, leadership and responsibility.

North South University (NSU) hosted its spring orientation 2026 program on Friday at the NSU Plaza Area, warmly welcoming newly admitted students to the university community.

Aziz Al Kaiser chairman of the board of trustees attended the event as a special guest. Founder life members and former chairmen of the board of trust M. A. Kashem and Benajir Ahmed were present as guests of honor. Session was chaired by vice chancellor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, with pro vice chancellor Nasar Uddin Ahmed also in attendance.

Program began with screening of an NSU documentary. Registrar Ahmed Tazmeen delivered the welcome address to the new students.

Deans from all four schools of the university were present: Rizwanul Islam from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Shazzad Hosain from the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences, Dipak Kumar Mitra from the School of Health and Life Sciences; and AKM Waresul Karim from the School of Business and Economics.

During the event, scholarships at various levels were awarded to 68 students. Among them, 23 students received 100 percent merit scholarships for their outstanding performance in the bachelor’s (honors) admission test.

In his remarks, Aziz Al Kaiser emphasized that the university values the trust placed by students and their families and remains committed to nurturing responsible, ethical, and empathetic individuals. Benajir Ahmed described NSU as a place where dreams are shaped and leadership qualities are developed, while M. A. Kashem encouraged students to aspire to become future leaders through determination and ambition.

Vice chancellor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury stated that education is not only about earning a degree but also about becoming responsible citizens. He added that the country’s development depends largely on the values and contributions of its young generation.

Program concluded with a cultural performance by members of the North South University Shangskritik Shangathan, creating a festive atmosphere and marking a vibrant welcome for the new batch of students.
