SOAS University of London in the QS World University Rankings 2027
SOAS has once again been recognized for its global outlook and impact in the QS World University Rankings 2027, earning joint first place in the UK for international faculty and ranking 21st in the UK for international students. The university was also recognised as one of the UK’s leading institutions for graduate employment.
SOAS achieved an impressive 14th place in the UK for employment outcomes, rising 164 places from the previous year, reflecting the growing success of its graduates in the job market.

The university also recorded significant progress in sustainability, with a 140-point increase in its sustainability score, placing it 41st in the UK. Further improvements were seen across key indicators, including academic reputation, employer reputation, and citations per faculty.
Joanna Newman provost and deputy vice chancellor (education) said:
“Today’s results build on our strong performance in the subject rankings, where 13 subjects were placed in the global top 100. Our overall position, our standing on graduate employment, and the transformation in our sustainability score all reflect a university that knows its purpose and is committed to excellent education and to demonstrating the real-world impact of its research.”
The university’s subject rankings also remain outstanding. In the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, 13 subjects were ranked among the world’s top 100, with four placed in the global top 25:
- Development Studies – 2nd globally
- Politics – 16th globally
- Anthropology – 19th globally
- History of Art – 24th globally
In addition, the broad subject area of Arts & Humanities was ranked 88th in the world.
The QS World University Rankings 2027 assessed 1,504 institutions worldwide, including 93 universities in the UK, highlighting SOAS’s continued strength in international education, graduate employability, research impact, and sustainability.
