Brac University provides a comprehensive First Year Advising Team (FYAT) program for all undergraduate students to support them throughout their first year. The program is managed by the Office of Academic Advising (OAA) and is designed to help students smoothly transition into university academics and campus life.

Each new student is assigned to an FYAT Group, which is guided by:

  • A Faculty Adviser
  • A Peer Mentor
Role of the FYAT Faculty Adviser

The Faculty Adviser serves as an individual academic adviser for students during their first three semesters. They:

  • Provide academic guidance and support
  • Monitor students’ academic progress
  • Assist in setting academic goals
  • Support students’ transition to university learning
  • Refer students to appropriate academic and support services at BRAC University
Role of the FYAT Peer Mentor

The Peer Mentor is a senior student who:

  • Provides social and transitional support
  • Guides students to campus resources and opportunities
  • Acts as a point of contact for student life–related queries
  • Offers advice and support from a student perspective
Important Instructions for Spring 2026 Freshmen

All freshmen of spring 2026 are required to be part of an FYAT group.

You will receive the following information through the FYAT web notice:

  • Your FYAT Group Name
  • Your Faculty Adviser
  • Your Peer Mentor

After receiving your group details, you must complete and submit the official Google Form.

This submitted forms will be forwarded to the Brac University Office of Academic Advising (OAA). Your assigned FYAT Peer Mentor will then contact you for further communication and guidance.
