BRAC University Tops Bangladesh in Public Health in Shanghai Ranking 2025

Brac University has been recognized as the best university in Bangladesh for public health education in the Shanghai Ranking’s 2025 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. In this year’s assessment, 57 academic subjects from universities worldwide were evaluated across disciplines including natural sciences, life sciences, medical sciences, social sciences and engineering.

Brac University’s Brac James P. Grant School of Public Health (Brac JPGSPH) has been placed in the 301–400 band globally in the subject of Public Health, with an impressive score of 95.9. This achievement reflects the institution’s excellence in teaching, strong research performance, and extensive international collaborations with leading universities and research organizations around the world.

In the same ranking, Dhaka University was also recognized from Bangladesh, securing a position in the 401–500 band.

Shanghai Ranking evaluates universities based on nine indicators, including world-class faculty, world-class research output, research quality, research impact, and international collaboration. Brac JPGSPH’s high standing demonstrates its strength across these critical performance dimensions.

Brac JPGSPH has a long-standing reputation for research and education in areas such as health systems, women’s and reproductive health, climate and health, gender equality, and policy-oriented public health. Its work extends beyond Bangladesh to numerous low- and middle-income countries, making it a globally respected center for practice-based education and field-oriented research. For over two decades, the school has been known for its experience-driven learning model and its contribution to evidence-based public health policy and practice.

Professor Malay Kanti Mridha, Deputy Dean of Brac JPGSPH, stated:
