American International University-Bangladesh vs Brac University

A notable achievement in competitive programming has been recorded at the ICPC Asia West Continental Finals 2025, organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology held on March 7–8, 2026.

Representing American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), Team AIUB_Modularity delivered an outstanding performance, securing 3rd position in Bangladesh and 35th place overall among all participating teams.

The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), widely regarded as the “Olympics of Computer Programming,” is one of the most prestigious global platforms for aspiring programmers. It challenges students to sharpen their analytical thinking, algorithmic problem-solving, and technical proficiency under intense competition.

In the Asia West Continental Finals, Team AIUB_Modularity achieved a remarkable standing among private universities, finishing just behind leading institutions such as Brac University, Daffodil International University and East West University.

The team members—Faisal Amin Abir, Shamin Yasser, and Ahnaf Tanvir Tasin (all BSc in CSE)—demonstrated exceptional teamwork, problem-solving skills, and competitive resilience. Their accomplishment marks one of AIUB’s most significant ICPC successes in recent years, underscoring the university’s growing strength in competitive programming.

The team was coached by Israfil Diganta and Abdullah Al Rawaha Anik. They received mentorship from Abhijit Bhowmik, Associate Professor and Special Assistant (OSA), and Md. Al-Amin, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at AIUB.

Over the years, the Department of Computer Science at AIUB has demonstrated consistent progress in competitive programming, with teams achieving strong results in both national and international arenas. The department continues to emphasize structured training programs, mentorship, and internal programming contests to cultivate advanced problem-solving capabilities among students.

The ICPC Asia Regional contests bring together top student programmers from across the region, fostering collaboration, innovation, and fair competition. The ICPC Foundation serves as the global sponsor, while JetBrains supports the competition as the global programming tools sponsor.

Overall, the ICPC Asia West Continental Finals 2025 showcased the exceptional talent, dedication, and competitive spirit of participants. The impressive performance of Team AIUB_Modularity stands as a testament to AIUB’s continued commitment to excellence in programming, innovation, and global competitiveness.
