Bangladesh in University Rover Challenge 2026 Finals
Bangladesh has achieved a remarkable milestone in global robotics, with five teams qualifying for the finals of the University Rover Challenge (URC) 2026 after a highly competitive System Acceptance Review (SAR).

Bangladeshi Teams in URC 2026 Finals
The teams representing Bangladesh include:
- BRAC University – BRACU Mongol Tori
- United International University – UIU Mars Rover
- Three additional teams from leading institutions
Their selection highlights the country’s growing strength in robotics engineering, STEM education and space technology innovation.
Highly Competitive Selection Process
The 2026 URC began with 116 teams from 18 countries, making it one of the most competitive editions to date. Teams were required to submit:
- Detailed technical reports
- Video demonstrations of rover capabilities
After rigorous evaluation by expert judges, only 38 teams from 11 countries advanced to the finals.
Finals Location and Dates
The URC 2026 finals will take place at the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) in Utah, USA, from May 27 to May 30, 2026. This location simulates real Martian terrain, testing rovers in near-authentic mission conditions.
Preparation Phase Begins
The finalist teams now enter a critical two-and-a-half-month preparation period, focusing on:
- Advanced rover testing and optimization
- Autonomous navigation systems
- Scientific mission readiness
- Field simulations under extreme conditions
Why This Achievement Matters
Qualifying multiple teams for URC finals positions Bangladesh as an emerging force in space robotics and planetary exploration. The competition is widely recognized for preparing students for careers in organizations like NASA and the global aerospace industry.
