The event featured Mahdi Amin adviser to the prime minister as the chief guest. Addressing the students, he stressed the need for an education system that blends academic knowledge with practical skills, industry exposure, extracurricular engagement and ethical values. He noted that universities should play a key role in developing disciplined, skilled and responsible citizens prepared for professional life.

During the ceremony, 98 students received scholarships at different levels, including 18 students who were awarded full merit scholarships for achieving outstanding results in the undergraduate admission test.

Special guests at the program included Aziz Al Qaiser, MA Kashem, Benazir Ahmed, Rehana Rahman and Yasmin Kamal. The session was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury.

North South University registrar Ahmed Tajmin delivered the welcome speech.

In his remarks, Aziz Al Qaiser said the university is committed to developing students into ethical, compassionate, and socially responsible citizens alongside their academic growth. Vice-Chancellor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury highlighted that the university encourages independent thinking, creativity, innovation, and practical learning to help students become future leaders and contributors to society.

M. A. Kashem a member of the NSU board of trust stated, “We have plans to establish an international medical research institute and a nursing training center. In light of the growing global demand for skilled manpower in this sector, several universities in the United Kingdom have already expressed interest in collaborating with us. I urge the government to support this initiative; the establishment of such institutions will further strengthen the country’s healthcare sector. It will also make it possible to retain within the country the vast amount of foreign currency currently spent by citizens seeking medical treatment abroad.”

Benjir Ahmed another trust member stated, “University life is not confined within four walls; it is a time for self-discovery and for preparing to change the world. A university can grant a degree, but it is your character and courage that can make you truly great.”

At the event, the deans of the university’s schools introduced their respective faculties. These included Md. Rizwanul Islam, Sajjad Hossain, Deepak Kumar Mitra and AKM Warsul Karim.

Orientation program concluded with a vote of thanks from Nesar Uddin Ahmed and a cultural performance presented by the North South University cultural club.
