Department of Law at North South University (NSU) organized a seminar titled “Business Law Talks” on Wednesday, focusing on personal injury laws and existing gaps in Bangladesh’s tort law framework.

Held at the Moot Court Room of North South University, the event featured Barrister and Solicitor (Ontario, Canada) Munira Kabir as the keynote speaker.
During her address, Munira Kabir discussed the importance and practical application of tort law, especially in handling personal injury cases. She emphasized that Bangladesh needs a more structured and effective legal system to address tort-related claims.
She noted that Bangladesh currently lacks important legal provisions such as contingency fee arrangements and a comprehensive framework governing tort law.
“Our country has no contingency fee structure and lacks a proper legal framework for tort law. It is now essential to introduce and implement it effectively,” she said.
The session was moderated by Senior Lecturer Saquib Rahman, while opening remarks were delivered by Prof. Abu Noman M. Atahar Ali.
Students from NSU law and business administration programs attended the seminar, actively participating in discussions on the practical challenges of applying tort law in Bangladesh.
The program is part of an ongoing initiative by NSU Law to encourage academic discussion on contemporary legal issues.
