EWU Economics Department Hosts Alumni Meet and Greet 2026
Department of Economics at East West University (EWU) successfully organized a day-long “Alumni Meet and Greet” on January 30, 2026, at the Manzur Elahi Auditorium. The event provided a dynamic platform for alumni to reconnect with their alma mater, exchange professional insights, and contribute ideas toward the future development of the department.

The program began with a warm welcome address by Iftekharul Huq, Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Economics. This was followed by a nostalgic video presentation titled “A Walk Down Memory Lane,” highlighting memorable moments and tracing the department’s academic journey over the years.
A major highlight of the morning session was an interactive one-hour discussion moderated by Biva Arani Mallik, Associate Professor, and Parvez Karim Abbasi, Assistant Professor, of the Department of Economics. The discussion focused on the transition from academic life to professional careers. Alumni shared their post-graduation experiences, offered constructive feedback on the strengths and areas for improvement of EWU’s training modules, and discussed ways in which alumni can actively contribute to the department’s academic and professional growth.
The event was further enriched by addresses from distinguished academic leaders. Professor A. K. Enamul Haque, former professor of the department and Director General of the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS), spoke on the critical role of economists in national development. Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU, expressed the university’s pride in the diverse achievements of its graduates across various sectors. In his “Words of Wisdom,” Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and Founder Vice Chancellor of EWU, emphasized the responsibility of alumni to serve as ambassadors of the university’s values and underscored the importance of ethical leadership in professional life.
The formal session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Muntasir Chaudhury, Associate Professor. Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor of EWU, along with faculty members of the Department of Economics and other distinguished guests, attended the program. A commemorative group photograph marked the close of the formal proceedings.
The day concluded on a celebratory note with a vibrant cultural program performed by members of the EWU Economics Club, showcasing the creativity and talent of the current students.
