Missouri University of Science and Technology vs Monash University vs United International University
For the first time in history a Bangladeshi team has secured a place among the world’s top three at the prestigious University Rover Challenge (URC) onsite competition. The UIU Mars Rover team from United International University (UIU) achieved an outstanding third-place finish, marking an unprecedented milestone for Bangladesh and for any Asian team in the competition’s history.
In addition to its podium finish, the UIU Mars Rover team earned the Best Autonomous System Recognition, highlighting its excellence in autonomous navigation and robotics technology.
The top three teams in the global rankings were:
Missouri University of Science and Technology – Mars Rover Design Team
Monash University – Monash Nova Rover
United International University – UIU Mars Rover

Representing the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR), the UIU Mars Rover team competed in the onsite finals held in Utah, USA, from May 27 to May 30. Another Bangladeshi team, BRAC University’s BRACU Mongol-Tori, also delivered an impressive performance, securing seventh place overall.
Teams were evaluated across five challenging categories: System Acceptance Review (SAR), Science Mission, Delivery Mission, Equipment Servicing Mission, and Autonomous Navigation Mission. Demonstrating exceptional performance across all segments, UIU accumulated a total score of 400.44 points.
This remarkable achievement reflects the growing strength of Bangladesh in robotics, artificial intelligence, and space exploration technologies, while showcasing the talent and innovation of its young engineers on the global stage.
