North South University recently facilitated a two-week study tour at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia
North South University’s (NSU) commitment to global student mobility and experiential learning was exemplified through a successful two-week study tour at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, from August 3 to August 15, 2026. The delegation of four NSU students received a pre-departure send-off from Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of NSU, who urged them to proudly represent both the university and Bangladesh on an international forum.

Over the span of two weeks, participants engaged in a range of advanced masterclasses taught by distinguished faculty at Macquarie, alongside peers from Pakistan, China and Vietnam. These included in-depth sessions on Game Design by Dr. Mitchell McEwan, Cybersecurity by Prof. Matthew Mansour, Data Visualization by Prof. Guy Schofield, and Blockchain for Business by Prof. Alireza Amrollahi. Additionally, the curriculum offered practical learning experiences in Business Leadership and Strategy through courses on Leadership for Business by Prof. Deborah Howlett, Marketing by Prof. Lisa Rohanek, Decision-Making in Accounting by Prof. Carmel Emanuel, and Data Analytics by Prof. Binh Bui. The program also focused on employability and future readiness with interactive workshops on teamwork and problem-solving, led by Dr. Prashan Karunaratne, alongside sessions on career adaptability by Prof. Jennifer Ruskin.
Cultural immersion was a key aspect of the trip, as students explored Sydney’s architectural landmarks such as the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and participated in the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk. They also experienced the local culture through Sydney’s diverse culinary scene and ventured into the Blue Mountains, where they received guidance from members of the NSU Alumni Association regarding global post-graduation pathways.
The study tour culminated in a Presentation Day where the delegates showcased a presentation entitled “Economic Ties Between Bangladesh and Australia,” discussing Bangladesh’s economic growth and potential bilateral relations before an international audience. The tour concluded with participation in Macquarie University’s annual Open Day and a farewell ceremony held by Macquarie Lake. The Office of External Affairs commends the NSU delegation for their dedication and exemplary representation of Bangladesh and NSU abroad.
