Career and Placement Center of North South University (NSU CPC) hosted a seminar titled “Her Leadership, Her Legacy: Shaping Careers, Shaping Tomorrow” on Sunday to mark International Women’s Day 2026.

Event brought together faculty members, staff and students to discuss the evolving role of women in the global workforce, with a focus on leadership, professional excellence and building lasting legacies. According to NSU, the seminar reflects the university’s commitment to fostering a culture where leadership is defined by both impact and integrity.

Chief Guest Highlights Women’s Leadership and Resilience

Seminar featured Barrister Rashna Imam a senior advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh as the chief guest. Drawing on her extensive legal experience, she spoke about navigating challenging professional environments with resilience, ethical leadership and a strong moral compass.

Barrister Imam emphasized the importance of awareness of legal rights and accountability, especially in addressing issues affecting women in professional and social spaces.

Experts Stress Mentorship and Institutional Support

Panel discussion included several prominent academics from NSU:

  • Dr. Farzana Nahid, Director of the NSU Career and Placement Center
  • Dr. Nazlee Siddiqui, Professor and Director of NSU MBA and EMBA Programs
  • Dr. Nazia Manzoor, Assistant Professor and Chair of the NSU Department of English and Modern Languages

Speakers highlighted the critical role of mentorship, institutional support and inclusive workplace policies in helping women advance professionally and build leadership pathways.

Addressing Gender-Based Violence and Workplace Safety

Discussion also addressed broader social challenges facing women in Bangladesh, including the recent rise in sexual violence and harassment.

Speakers stressed that career development cannot be separated from the right to safety. Barrister Rashna Imam underscored the importance of strong legal frameworks, reporting mechanisms and public accountability in preventing gender-based violence.

Panelists also called for a shift in social attitudes, encouraging institutions and communities to work collectively to challenge harassment and create safer environments in both public and professional spaces.

NSU’s Commitment to Women’s Empowerment

North South University stated that the seminar aimed to connect classroom learning with real-world leadership challenges, encouraging students to view professional success and the prevention of gender-based violence as shared responsibilities.

The university added that its Career and Placement Center will continue organizing initiatives and seminars to help students prepare for their careers while contributing to a safer, more inclusive society.
