A World Health Day 2026 seminar held on April 7 at North South University brought together prominent healthcare professionals to examine how health systems can adapt to evolving global challenges. Organized by the NSU Public Health and Sciences Club, the event focused on reimagining healthcare through the lenses of equity, innovation, and resilience.

In his keynote address Dipak Kumar Mitra dean of the School of Health and Life Sciences, emphasized the critical importance of universal health coverage, stressing the need to ensure healthcare remains both accessible and affordable for all.

Guest speakers offered diverse insights on pressing health issues, including the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance, the pursuit of quality and excellence in healthcare delivery, the transformative potential of digital health technologies, and the rising burden of non-communicable diseases in Bangladesh.

As health systems worldwide confront increasing challenges—ranging from non-communicable diseases and emerging infections to deepening inequalities—the urgency for resilient and adaptive models has become more apparent. In Bangladesh, rapid urbanization, shifting demographics and ongoing technological advancements are reshaping healthcare demands, underscoring the need for stronger policies, innovation, and cross-sector collaboration.
