Twenty-Six IUB Students Receive Gold Standard Awards at Duke of Edinburgh’s Ceremony
Twenty-six students from Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) were honored with the prestigious Gold Standard Award at the 10th Gold Award Ceremony of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Foundation Bangladesh, held on January 19, 2026. The event took place at the residence of the British High Commissioner in Dhaka.

Ceremony recognized students who successfully completed the “Gold” level of the internationally acclaimed Duke of Edinburgh’s Award program, which requires assessed achievements in four core areas: skills development, community service, physical recreation, and an adventurous journey. A total of 232 students from 13 institutions across Bangladesh received Gold Awards at the event.
Program was hosted by Sarah Cooke, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh. Distinguished guests included Rizwan Bin Farouq, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Foundation Bangladesh; Mirza Salman Ispahani, Member of the Board of Trustees of both IUB and the Award Foundation; IUB Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. M. Tamim; and Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Daniel W. Lund. Professor Dr. M. Tamim received the award files on behalf of the IUB Gold Award recipients.
At IUB, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award program operates as a student-led club known as The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award at Independent University, Bangladesh (DEA IUB). The program is coordinated by Mr. Saiful Kabir, Award Coordinator, DEA IUB. Currently, the club supports 261 active participants across the bronze, silver and gold levels.
Recognition of 26 IUB students at the gold level highlights the university’s continued commitment to holistic education, leadership development, and community engagement through internationally recognized extracurricular programs.
